More Landscaping

Image
I started this post last summer. Just noticed it wasn't published. So this is all stuff that was done during the Summer of 2011. We've been a little busy around the house this summer. We finally got some mulch around the trees in the back yard. Mom came over one weekend and we dug up all the hosta's from in front of the house and divided and replanted them around the plum tree. Before Before Before This is what I'm hoping it will look like next year. I'm hoping to take the grass that I planted in the planters in the back yard and put them in front by the railling.

Organizing Made Fun

I recently stumbled across this blog. I really enjoy her site and tips. She makes cleaning/organizing sound so easy and fun. She has this “tutorial” on “ How to have a {fake} immaculate house ”…quite interesting.  Have fun!

Time to Revisit My 2011 To Do List (2011 Goals)

So I had actually forgotten I'd started this list. It's time for me to revisit and provide a status update! Let's see how much I've accomplished or what I need to finish yet! Finish hanging up all the pictures, prints and shelves in the house - we've been here for 9 months now...I think it's time! Not quite done, but we have hung up more. We have a bit to go still... Finish getting all the "stuff" from our parents houses...again we've been in our house for 9 months! I don't think we've worked on this at all...YIKES, better get working :-) Work on getting into better physical condition Workout 3-4 days a week Just started a boot camp, so I can say I'm now doing this, at least for the next 8 weeks! Eat healthier - meaning less fast food! Definately working on this, even before my boot camp started we were doing better. It helps even more that the boot camp came with a meal plan so that's really keeping me on track. ...

More Work Around Home!

Image
Starting to move the "edgers" to the back yard. We plan to make a small patio/pad to put our grill on... The stack so far...still have a couple more sections up front to remove...so this will grow! Hopefully we have enough to make something decent. Made another planter. Hopefully I'm happy with the locations! These things are HEAVY!!!

Updates at Home

Image
So we've made a few small updates at home... Purchased a kitchen table...now we can actually eat at the table!!! Mom and I started putting some planters together for the back patio. Okay, so we've only done one so far, but i have the makings for a couple more. Mom also gave me a couple rose bushes for my birthday - just need to find the place for them! This view doesn't look nearly as nice as the others, but it has some pansies, clamatis and I don't recall what the little white flowers are...:-)

2011 To Do List (2011 Goals)

I've been reading a few different blogs recently and so many of them have a "2011 To Do List" or "2011 Goals" rather than Resolutions. I must say, I really like that idea...so I hope they don't mind but I'm going to copy! Below you will find my 2011 To Do List/Goals... Finish hanging up all the pictures, prints and shelves in the house - we've been here for 9 months now...I think it's time! Finish getting all the "stuff" from our parents houses...again we've been in our house for 9 months! Work on getting into better physical condition Workout 3-4 days a week Eat healthier - meaning less fast food! I started a journal this year - I'd like to continue to keep that up I have WAY too many scrapbooks started...I want to finish at least one of them this year - more would be great, but at least one! I also want to take more photos...I want to remember these times and want my children's children to know who we were! Get ou...

It's Beginning to Look A Little Like Christmas

Image
We have some Christmas decorations up...the tree (in two rooms) and a little bit of other stuff, just trying to decide where everything is going to go in the new house! It's hard. Hopefully next year we'll do a lot better. The weekend of Dec. 10-12 Squirt, Giggles and their mom came to Omaha to help Grammy celebrate her birthday. We had lots of fun...went to see Peter Pan at the Rose and went to see Santa - just a few highlights of the weekend.

More House Photos

We've made some changes in the house...Here are some new photos! Kitchen! Living room finally has a color! The wallpaper is down...FINALLY! Good work Lou. Now just need to finish prepping the walls and then the paint can go up! The crazy lopsided plum tree. We are trying to clean it up as best we can, though we think it's on its last leg!

Moving In...

So we are moving into the new house tomorrow. I can't believe it. I'm sorry to all my faithful followers for the lack of photos...Believe me I've been taking photos as we've been painting and all the progress, just during all the mess and confusion, I've misplaced my cables to transfer the photos from the camera to the computer. I've ordered a new one, so once that arrives I'll start sharing photos! Wish us luck this weekend...it's supposed to be a hot one...87 Saturday and 90+ Sunday! UGH...

Good Bye - Hello

Image
Alright...I started this post two days ago, but have been VERY busy at work and can't seem to finish. Let's see if I can get this done now... Good-Bye Birch Ave... :-( April 27, 2010: Wow...I can't believe that today is my last "real" day owning the house I built over in Spring Hill. The new buyer closes and takes posession tomorrow. L and I had our final walk through with the new house yesterday afternoon. Everything looks good, they got the basement issues taken care of and the sump pit/pump moved to a better more out of the way location!!! After the walk through, mom and I went over to the old house to say one last final good-bye. It's really sad and happy and sad and exciting all at the same time. This was my first house. 99% of what was done to this house, I DID!! And now I'm leaving it. I know this is a good thing, as it means L and I can move on with OUR life as a couple and start the next chapter of our life. But I'm still really sad. ...
