Vacation Days 2 & 3

Image
Wednesday ...After I left for work, Addison, Grammy, and Olivia ate breakfast, went for a walk and just had fun playing! Once they arrived back home, Olivia went down for her nap and Addison and Grammy set up the swimming pool in the yard. I hear they had a lot of fun! While they were "swimming" Grammy's friend Terri and her grandson, Max, came over to play also! While Grammy and Terri chatted, Addison and Max continued to play and swim. Once Olivia woke from her nap, the whole group went to the park. I'm not sure what all happened after the park or after Terri left...I believe Addison and Olivia both took a nap. Since they weren't quite ready yet, I went home and met the girls there so we could all drive to the zoo together. We met Lou at the zoo, had a picnic dinner and had fun walking around! Thursday ...Hmmm...What happened Thursday?! Oh yeah, Grammy, Addison and Livi ran a few errands. First they stopped at Grammy's house to pick up a few thin...

Addison & Olivia's Vacation in Omaha...Day 1

Image
Well, everyone arrived safely in Omaha Tuesday afternoon. Grammy, Addison and Livi visited me (Bubba) at work and we ate lunch on the roof...which Addison just thought was so funny. "We can't eat on the roof, Bubba." But, much to her surprise, we did...we ate at a table set up on the roof! Then Grammy, Addison and Livi visited Grammy's office and eventually made it to my house for a nap. When I got home from work, we played as quietly as a 2 1/2 year old can until Olivia woke from her nap, had dinner and then went out into the back yard to play in the sprinklers! Addison had such a great time...Olivia on the other hand, didn't seem to like the water hitting her too much. Below are a few pictures of the girls from Day 1 of their "Omaha Vacation." Everyone slept really well! I think Grammy and I were very impressed. We had both girls down to sleep around 8:30pm. Addison woke twice in the night, but I was able to get her back to sleep in just a matter of ...

Nearly Finished!

Well, I think we are just about finished with the front yard. I don't have any "digital" pictures, but as soon as I have some I'll add them to this post! We got the flower bed nearest the house finished and put in the wall around the tree. Now we are just waiting to find about a truck load of dirt to fill in around the tree. Then I can add some top soil and the mulch I have. Oh it looks so nice! I can't wait to have it all finished. This fall, I'll be planting some perennials in front of my family room window and maybe some hostas or something else hardy around the tree, just to add some color and warmth around the house! The next project will take place in the back yard...some flower beds around the back of the house, a larger deck, some vines or native grasses along my neighbors white vinal fence, some mulch around the trees in the back, etc! Homeownership never ends!!!! I must say a big warm THANK YOU to mom and Lou for all of their help! Also, thanks to Te...

Test Video!!!!!

This is a test video! Not sure if it will work or not! For those of you who may not know who these two guys are...They are our hosts (and drivers) in Arvika, Sweden. Fredrik and Roland. They were quite the pair and when they wanted something done, they made sure it was done! "I have a speach...We must go!" famous words of Roland!

Working at Home

Image
Last weekend mom and I attempted to work in my yard. We did accomplish a lot in the 12 hour day we put in Saturday. Unfortunately, however, our day was broken up into 2-3 hour working slots and 1-2 hour rest slots...I was and have been sick since I arrived home from Sweden. I thought I was feeling better Saturday morning, but as I quickly found out I wasn't. We worked during m y good times and rested during the bad. Had I been feeling better I know we could have finished the work. Take a look at what we did get accomplished though! I am proud of the two of us! This weekend, I think Lou, mom and I will be able to finish the retaining wall around the front tree and put in the edging around the rest. Eventually, I would like to work in the back yard, but that may have to wait until later in the summer...or early fall, when the temperatures aren't 90 F by 11:00am!

Random Thoughts

Ever since last week I haven't been able to get Virginia Tech off my mind. What would have happened if that were Hastings College?! Sadly when I heard about the shootings at VT, my first thought was back to a student at HC that committed suicide my freshman or sophomore year. Unfortunately it was found that he could have committed such acts at our school. Wow...that's just so scary. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the students, faculty, and family members of the Virginia Tech community. This past weekend was so nice. My sister will be celbrating a milestone birthday next month and since I'll be in Sweden at the time, my brother-in-law had a surprise party for my sister! It was so wonderful! She was so surprised. I'm glad I was able to be a part of that. I wouldn't have wanted to miss it. It was also nice since after the party my mom and I stayed the remainder of the weekend with my sister and her family and I was able to spend some quality bonding time with my...
